Newsflash!
05/01/26 Conde Nast has just named the Bradford Pennine Gateway National Nature Reserve (NNR) as one of the "Seven Wonders of the World". Reported in Metro, MSN, and The Sun - find more about the creation of the Bradford Pennine Gateway NNR at Gov.uk.
The foundation to creating Mountain-Leaders was an upbringing in the Yorkshire countryside. Growing up in suburban of Bradford might seem an unlikely place to start, but there were woods, a river & canal; hills & rocks; close by sailing in a local reservoir and the nearby Dales were home to caves, gorges and even mountains.

Add early communication of concerns & issues may lead to their being addressed early & resolution through mitigation, adjustment or avoidance as appropriate to the situation; managing for both individual & group needs.

28/02/2024 Training Update - Mental Health First Aider Training Completed
We successfully completed the course provided by MHFA England. This was the 2nd time we've undertaken this; our most recent training effectively renewed our currency & ability to act to support someone experiencing a mental health issue or crisis.
Key points would include: ALGEE - approach; assess; give reassurance; encourage professional help; encourage self-help. There's a lot to unpack with MHFA; while it does help to be trained, an authentic empathetic approach can provide an effective first line of MH care.
20-21/02/24 Expedition Manager Training - Sam Sykes Ltd
Our first Expedition Manager Training for Sam Sykes Ltd, held at Waddecar Scout Activity Centre in the Forest of Bowland.
A surprise 1st Aid scenarios were sprung on us - with no introduction, I was first-up my scenario was the discovery of someone seemingly showing the effects of inebriation; they were (acting) hypo-glycaemic, which required a relatively easy remedy if not for their non-compliance! The weather was very wet and cold, which added an extra-dimension that we often find plays a part in real world events as things turn out!
Just how wet was the Expedition Manager Training? This little fellow was trying to get inside out of the rain! It was moved carefully to undergrowth adjacent a nearby watercourse.
