Crib Nantlle - Nantlle Ridge

Crib Nantlle / Nantlle Ridge extends way beyond the usual "round" from Rhyd Ddu. While the now-popular route turns back at Tal-y-Mignedd, the full ridge route continues on for a number of additional peaks.

This spectacular scene is to be found on the flanks of Craig-Cwm-Silyn, en-route to Garnedd-Goch.

Worth Getting Out of Bed For?!

Sunrise, while supporting the UTS - Ultra Trail Snowdonia - was another really magical moment! Moments like this don't come along very often and it was incredible to watch the sun rise over the horizon. The first runners had already come through our checkpoint, mile 56 / 100  in the dark and those arriving at dawn, a little less pressed for time, were able to take a moment and celebrate sunrise with us before moving on. It was our pleasure to take several runners' photos in this incredible scenery. Two years ago we had a similar experience on the next-door neighbour Moelwyn Mawr, after we had set out at 3am to reinforce route-marking.

Illuminate your world!

Taken after a day of challenging weather as a named storm blew across Britain and through the Derbyshire Dales - bringing the trifecta of cold, wind & rain. The following morning, a cold start, barely above freezing, the weather gave way to an amazing atmospheric dawn. The mist lifted to turn-around the meteorological fortunes of a school group out on expedition for 3 days of Silver DofE Award. near Matlock.

One Step Beyond!

The Ben Nevis day-hike had been testing with rain and cold. A "lazy wind" blew through you rather than go around. The following morning, daylight broke differently. We headed out early, straight after breakfast, for a brief hike to loosen up our legs before beginning the journey home. The weather was just sublime! A Scots Pine in Glen-Nevis; Ben Nevis and Highland Cattle lowing in the background.

The Journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single footstep

The quote is attributed to Laotzu (/Laozi). Inevitably, this is where all our journeys begin. Here (see image) Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon summit was where this particular journey ended. The challenge, at least was over after returning to the foot of the mountain.

First, this spectacular Mammatus cloud greeted us, just as the group was concluding their climb. The cloud broke-up as we watched and a few moments later, it had dissipated.

Whether your ambition is great or small, we can help you to get where you want to go! Don't miss the moment!

Winter Training

A long weekend in the Cairngorms, Scotland, getting in some winter hiking action. After getting out early to make the most of a weather window, this was the scene as a storm arrived. The gust-front had mobilised the spin drift and then began a rapid melt. We were down soon afterwards, having made the most of a blue-sky morning!

Mountainleaders' Logo is derived from this spectacular sunset photograph from the north of Eryri / Snowdonia.
